Custom enclosure shells for 50-ton VD furnace system for steel mill
This VD furnace system consists of 3 cylinder assemblies, 2 furnace cover assemblies, and 2 furnace cart assemblies. The fabrication process involves steel plate cutting, forming, welding, machining, etc.
Welding VD furnace cylinders
Welding VD furnace covers
The high-temperature VD furnace is used to reheat steel billets before hot rolling. The enclosure shells require carefully engineered airflow and insulation to optimize energy efficiency. Our team mapped out weld sequences and leverage automated welding fixtures to ensure dimensional accuracy and minimize distortion. After machining of flanges and nozzle openings, the shells underwent helium leak testing and vacuum holding tests per ASME standards prior to shipment. Our fabrication expertise produces high-quality VD furnace shells to improve temperature uniformity and material properties for steel mills.

Welding furnace liner
This sintering furnace we fabricated can reach 1300°C internally and is a semi-vacuum furnace for sintering soft magnetic materials. To obtain excellent organizational structure, strength, hardness, density, etc. of the metallurgical products after commissioning, the fabrication accuracy of the sintering furnace is crucial. The vacuum sintering furnace consists of dozens of components including vacuum shell, furnace liner, internal and external insulation layers, thermocouples, angle iron rails, etc. The large number of parts, complex processes, and need to perfectly match the furnace structure with multiple control systems posed many fabrication difficulties.

Our engineers used 3D modeling and simulation to optimize the furnace liner design for even heat distribution and thermal efficiency. We developed custom fixtures to enable precise welding of the thin-walled stainless steel liner. The sintering furnace was assembled in a climatically controlled shop to maintain dimensional accuracy before shipping to the customer site. Our fabrication expertise produces high-performance sintering furnaces to improve quality and efficiency for powder metallurgy operations.
